Who Says that Table Tennis is an Old Fashion Sport ?

Hungary's Georgina Póta doesn't draw attention to herself only by the results she achieves (another podium finish in Hong Kong at the Volkswagen Pro Tour Grand Finals last December U-21 event).
The way she is dressed also shows how she is setting the fashion trends regarding women's table tennis clothes, with a very attractive new shirt and skirt produced by her sponsor JOOLA.
Thanks once again to Michael Bachtler, the Managing Director of JOOLA for providing such attractive clothes to female players with consistently new innovative designs.

Hungary’s Georgina PÓTA won the Under 21 Women’s Singles title at the Volkswagen Open China in Shenzhen on Saturday 17th September 2005 beating the player who one week earlier had won the same event at the Panasonic China Open, HAN Hye Song of North Korea.
In the final Georgina PÓTA won 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8
The Hungarian attacked relentlessly throughout the contest and was one of the few players in the Under 21 Women’s Singles event who was able to cope with the fast backhand attacks of the North Korean. She uses medium length pimples on the backhand with only a thin layer of sponge.
Just Played
“I didn’t think too much about the match, I just played”, smiled Georgina PÓTA. “I wasn’t nervous at all.”
Winning the first two games was a boost for PÓTA, she moved well and when rallies developed was comfortable with the situation. However, HAN Hye Song is a determined young lady, there are no histrionics just a quiet approach and she has clearly displayed in the last two weeks that she will fight to the very end.
Typical to her character she recovered and won the third and fourth games but to her credit, Georgina PÓTA responded and captured the fifth and sixth games to ensure victory.
Pimples
“I don’t usually like playing against players who use pimples”, explained Georgina PÓTA. “However, they weren’t long pimples so I was able to attack against them.” Most certainly she was able to attack when receiving from the pimpled rubber side of the North Korean’s racket and most importantly she had few problems receiving service.
“I wasn’t troubled by her services”, continued Georgina PÓTA. “I could flick the service and once the point was underway I was more confident.”
However, just as Georgina PÓTA received service well, so HAN Hye Song had problems receiving service from the Hungarian, who was particularly effective serving with the backhand with varying degrees of sidespin. “In the first game the backhand sidespin service worked well”, explained PÓTA. “However, she became used to the service and I had to vary the service more as the match progressed.”
Rewards
The variations reaped rewards; Georgina PÓTA established a narrow 9-8 lead in the sixth game, she was serving, it was a crucial stage and the backhand service with backspin and a little sidespin into the forehand of HAN Hye Song proved a winner, the North Korean returned the service into the net and it was match point for PÓTA.
It was her first match point, she needed no more; she converted the advantage and duly captured the title.
“I’m delighted to have won”, she said. “Now I hope I can qualify for the Volkswagen Pro Tour Grand Finals in the Under 21 event and perhaps also in the Women’s Doubles.”
A very realistic goal and one she proved in Shenzhen is well within her grasp.
