EUROPEAN Table Tennis Gains Ground Through The Internet: 12.48 Million Users Logged On During Belgrade
European table tennis fans (and not only European ones) strongly appreciated the TV streaming services provided during 2007 Liebherr European Championships in Belgrade: 12.48 million unique users enjoyed the event through ttlive.tv platform, according to the audit figures released by Hahn-e-business, the ETTU official IT partner company providing the full event coverage through internet during the Serbian tournament, with more than one hundred broadcasted matches and interviews to players and coaches.
58% of the web users were Europeans, but the event gained strong interest also in Asia (35%) rather than in America (5%) or Africa/Australia (2%). “These figures confirm the new medias unbelievable potentiality – ETTU President Stefano BOSI (ITA) stated – and represent the best reward to our marketing strategy focused on increasing the business turn-over around our top events but, first and foremost, to make the European TT more visible all around the world”.
The 2007 Liebherr European Championships in Belgrade were attended by around about 45.000 spectators. The participating players were 188 in Men’s individual competitions and 144 for Women’s, all representing 46 countries: 31 Men’s teams and 32 Women’s teams were involved in the team competition. The O.C. registered 125 journalists coming from 17 countries. Twelve TV channels broadcasted this really successful event.
