New Zealand Performs at the Oceania Youth Olympic Qualification Tournament. 

Fantastic results for TTNZ with both Oceania positions being filled by NZ players.  Kevin Wu won the boys and Julia Wu (not related) won the girls. 

In the boys, both NZ players, Kevin Wu and Thom Nguyen, showed the benefits of the recent IOC Olympic Solidarity funded preparatory trip to France and Egypt.  While Wu won a place at the Youth Olympics, Nguyen assisted him greatly by beating the Australian number 2, Dillon Cathcart, (the only player to beat Wu) to ensure there was not a 3 way countback.  It then came down to Wu and Australian number 1, Hemming Hu, and since Wu won the match between the two he qualified for the Youth Olympics in Singapore in August this year.

Julia Wu dominated the girls division with her only loss being to fellow NZ player Jennifer Tseng.  Tseng lost to both Australian players.  This is an excellent result for Wu as she had decided to reduce her training volumes this year to accommodate a very busy academic year.
