Table Tennis New Zealand and Waikato Table Tennis have an excellent working partnership with the Waikato University and the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship Programme. We currently have two Table Tennis Scholars in Sarah Ho and Michelle McCarthy who are both New Zealand representatives. Who can apply?

  • Students who excel academically, and in sports or performing arts
  • School leavers
  • Current tertiary students
  • Students who have the capacity to lead

How do I apply?

What is the process to apply?

  • You fill out an application form and send it to Scholarships office
  • You will receive notification that your application has been received
  • You may be interviewed in person or by phone
  • Academic, creative and arts performance will be assessed by the University. The standard of sporting achievement will be assessed by the programme's sporting partners.  The University will make a final selection based on the combined recommendations.
  • You will be notified whether your application has been successful.  It may be conditional dependent on your academic results
  • Once your academic results are known you will be sent a formal offer, which you will need to send back to confirm acceptance
  • You will be sent a letter confirming your award of a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship and entitlement as a scholar in the Sir Edmund Hillary Programme.
